Just a quick note about the energy performance of our addition: The first mistake I made was to let the furnace people run their standard heat loss calculations. The calculations called for three furnaces. I said that was unreasonable, so they cut it down to two furnaces. I told them I did not think that two furnaces were necessary either, but they insisted. Two furnaces have turned out to be one too many. We have run one furnace only during Jan and Feb. When we come in each morning, I notice the furnace will run for 15 minutes or so and then I never (hear) the furnace again.
I am very pleased with both the energy performance and the appearance of the building.
